2008 – i’m not gonna lie to you
you sucked ass in so many ways
dude, you were downright mean
the bully in all my 33 years
and your lessons were harsh
didn’t your mama teach you how to sugar-coat things?
but that tough lovin’ is often the most valuable kind
and i am all the better and stronger for you
dare i say,
i am even grateful for the growth spurt?
still, truth be told
i’m happy to bid adieu to you
so
in the simplest terms

goodbye dirty laundry
hello bright colors
goodbye shades of grey
hello light
goodbye darkness
hello stillness
goodbye angst
hello adventure
goodbye sadness
and may there continue to be silliness
(my world doesn’t function without a good dose of the silly)
2009 – i’m not gonna lie to you
i have big hopes for you
and great expectations
i am stepping into you
with a smile on my face,
